Description:
Year of production: 1926.
AMILCAR had been a small French carmaker. Between 1921 and 1939 they produced primarily small race cars, which were humorously called "poor-people-Bugatti". AMILCAR race cars achieved respectable results in numerous well-known races like the 24 hours of Le Mans, the Mille Miglia or the Rallye Monte Carlo. Still today the AMILCAR model CGSS belongs to the cars which are approved to participate in the Mille Miglia.
This AMILCAR CGSS is not a museum piece. It had an "eventful life" which you can see by looking at it - but somehow its patina also makes up its charm. The first owner lived on the Spanish island Gran Canaria. The car was the 1985th of all vehicles which have been ever registered on Gran Canaria. The original vehicle number plate is still existing. The car was registered up into the 1990th. The owners were members of several Spanish automobile associations and the pleasure of driving - may be also the pleasure of racing - was always in their focus.
Over time the car was partially restored several times. Many original parts and nice details have been preserved till today. Various technical changes have been made in order to improve the handling and the reliability of the car as well as its traffic safety (e.g. hydraulic brakes). The original engine was replaces by a robust and a little more powerful engine of a Morris Minor 1000 (1.100 ccm, about 45 PS) probably in the 1960th or 1970th. Therefore this AMILCAR CGSS is easy to drive despite the early construction year 1926. Moreover the car is an absolute eye-catcher at each classic car event. Ready to drive Condition 2-.
The car can be inspected in the Classic Centrum Zwickau, Breithauptstrasse 3-5, 08056 Zwickau. Date according to agreement.
