The Musical Clowns built by famous Swiss commercial use automaton builder Paul Zwahlen of Yverdon, Switzerland ca. 1980. The set consists of 4 clowns, playing clarinet, saxophone, accordion and bass drum. Built to last an eternity, they move and simulate playing music (music provided by an 8-track tape player) once activated by inserting a coin. Paul Zwahlen built the automatons for window displays and restaurants till around 1980 and his customers included Toblerone, Caran d’Ache, cheese factories and others. Only 3 sets of the 4 clowns for circuses were ever built. The 8 track cassette player comes with lots of music. Height: 190 cm. Width: 203 cm. Depth: 203 cm. Condition: Excellent.
