1942 Rock-Ola Model 1418 Commando jukebox with top speaker bowl. 20 selections of 78 RPM records. In 1942 Rock-Ola was a prime contractor for production of the M1 carbine for the US Military during World War II. The "Premier", "President" and "Commando" jukebox models were launched on the same year, leading to very limited production numbers. They were also restricted by the lack of metal and plastic and therefore almost all of the panels were made of glass. Due to the size and the fact that they did not look like ordinary jukeboxes with push buttons they were never considered a real success among operators, but nowadays the designs of these jukeboxes are considered to be among the most original and unconventional designs in jukebox history.
