The Peerless Piano Player Co. owned by F. Engelhardt & Sons was operating out of St.
Johnsville, N.Y. Their instruments are admired by collectors for the vividly patterned quarter
oak cases and their fantastic Tiffany style art glass. Probably the most spectacular art glass
of all American instruments is on Jerry’s Arcadia. (the very instrument is pictured in the En-
cyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments- the bible for a collector- by Q. David Bowers
page 558). Together with the Seeburg H this are the most beautiful cabinets ever built for an
American nickelodeon. The instrument consists of piano, solo mandolin, 2 ranks of each 32
violin and flute pipes, bass and snare drums, cymbal and triangle and a set of castanets. This
fantastic and rare instrument plays the special Peerless “O” roll.
